3 years ago when I’m still part of the choir of Sta. Monica Parish Church I loved to sit on the antique molave wood (copper
wood) that tends to be a long bench outside the church. Refreshing by the eastern wind crossing the side of the church where I used to sit while tuning my guitar and waiting for the other member to come. From then what is the story of the antique molave wood is far away from my knowing.
So to make it more appreciated artifacts of Sta. Monica Parish Church and a part of national historical landmark let me share to you the brief history behind the antique molave wood.
Based with our interview with Fr. Robert Alba, the antique molave wood is the original traces in the ceiling of Sta. Monica Parish Church but when the reconstruction occurred they decide to lay it down instead and replaced it with modern materials.
The antique wood I used to sit is the only one left after they wished it to preserve but the other antique wood was used as chair and other wood materials for the reconstruction of the convent.
